Location and Access
Rudy Wielkie (also known as Rudy Raciborskie) is a large village about 12km north west of Rybnik and mid-way along the former Gliwice to Racibórz 785mm gauge line, which was part of the Upper Silesian narrow gauge network.
Public transport access is easiest on Rybnik city bus number 43 which terminates at Rudy. It runs approximately hourly on weekdays and once every 2-3 hours at weekends (Rybnik city bus timetables). The main bus station ('Rybnik Dworzec Autobusowy' in the timetable) is well outside the town centre to the north-west. Bus number 43 calls at the railway station ('R-k Śródmieście Dworzec Kol.') stop 12 minutes after leaving the bus station, and Plac Wolności, the main city centre bus stop, 16 minutes after leaving the bus station. It is also possible to reach Kuźnia Raciborska (on the Kędzierzyn-Koźle to Racibórz/Rybnik railway line) from Rudy on Rybnik city bus number 44 (weekdays only). There is a PKS bus route from Gliwice to Racibórz which passes through Rudy 9 times a day on weekdays, 4 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday (PKS Gliwice timetable, PKS Racibórz timetable).
